West Australian companies Echo Marine Group and Matrix Composites & Engineering are pleased to announce a new collaboration agreement to pursue specialist naval related opportunities, bringing together a range of complementary skills and technical expertise to offer world class value-added solutions.
Echo and Matrix are neighbours within the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson, Western Australia and have worked successfully together on numerous prior projects. Echo – through extensive support from Naval Ship Management Australia – currently assists with the sustainment of the ANZAC class vessels on numerous tasks.
Matrix Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Begley said the new agreement is reflective of the long-standing relationship between Matrix and Echo and provides a good foundation from which to explore and pursue new directions.
“This agreement is a testament to the positive relationship that we have fostered with Echo over the years,” Mr Begley said. “Our complementary capabilities provide us with an exciting opportunity to develop fully integrated composite solutions for our naval customers, thus enhancing the long-term sustainment of naval platforms.”
Mark Stothard, Echo Owner and Director, said that, “Aside from the good working relationship we share with Matrix, Echo and Matrix share many synergies that will help to ensure this new collaboration is beneficial for our companies and our clients alike. Both firms are solution providers that strive to provide the best in innovative product design, materials, quality and service.
“Working together, Echo and Matrix can further diversify and grow the availability of locally produced specialist products and services for the Naval industry. It is our hope this initiative will result in additional local content, jobs and training opportunities right here in Western Australia.”
Matrix brings to the table an impressive 20-year pedigree in polymer chemistry, and an extensive history in delivering large and complex projects to customers where safety and reliability are critical. Combined with an intimate understanding of large-scale manufacturing and the requirements of the 4.0 era, Matrix composite solutions are in operation around the world. Matrix’s site in Henderson is also home to a fully equipped material laboratory and the largest hyperbaric test facility in the Southern Hemisphere.
